If you’re receiving leads from locations you don’t serve, the issue is almost always related to Location Targeting in your ads.
Meta will try to expand delivery unless you clearly force the location rules using Include and Exclude settings.
Below is the recommended setup to make sure your ads only show to people in your service area.
Step-by-Step: Location Targeting Setup (Recommended)
1. Go to Your Ad Launcher
Open BiteBot Ad Launcher
Select your ad template
Scroll down to Location Targeting
2. Set Location Type to Address
Under Location Targeting:
Set Type to Address
Search for your practice or business address
Example:
4701 Nicollet Ave, MN 55419
This tells Meta exactly where your business is located.
3. Include Your Service Radius
Once your address appears:
Select a radius (for example: +7 mi, +10 mi, or +20 mi)
Make sure the location is set to Include ✅
This forces Meta to only show ads to users within that radius.
Best practice: keep the radius tight and realistic based on how far patients are actually willing to travel.
4. Exclude Areas You Do NOT Serve (Critical Step)
This is the most important step to avoid out-of-area leads.
To prevent Meta from expanding delivery:
Click Add location
Under Type, select State
Search for a state (for example: Arizona)
Change it from Include to Exclude
You can repeat this step for all other states you do not want to target.
Best Practice: Exclude ALL Other States
The recommended best practice is to:
Exclude every state you are not interested in
Keep only:
Your address
Your desired radius
This forces Meta to stay within your selected area and prevents leads from coming from outside of your state or service region.
Meta will otherwise try to “help” by expanding reach, which usually results in low-quality, out-of-area leads.
